suspension for bodydrop

i see most people have gone to tubular control arms in the front, is there any decent resonably priced kit for these trucks that are worth using. also i want to lay body but also want to drive this truck at a somewhat reasonable height, do i also do a spindle, if so what is a good size?

The cost depends on your budget and fab skills. Get your air ride parts from ***************** Art arms cost way too much! The lower you go is going to affect the lift you are going to get. Body is easy Z the frame 3" and use shorter body mounts when bagged, also if you dont go with tube arms it helps if you dont use lower cups. Spindles for big rims..

hey thanks for that link. im building this truck is on a pretty tight budget concidering what i want to with it. has anyone made their own tubular control arms by hacking the stock uppers to salvage the ball joints and ball joint mounts? looks like most of the aftermarket tubulars are about 1" round, does anyone know what thinkness of side wall to use... (.120 seems like it would be stong enough...?)

I make control arms. I use 1 1/8" DOM .250 wall. 1" .120 wouldn't be enough. You need to make a good jig so you get the arms correct or things could get ugly. If your wanting to make arms just make everything. It's not worth chopping parts off of the factory arms and trying to make them work.

What's the connection? Spindles for 2.5" (or 3", depending on brand) drop... big rims or not. And regardless of rim size, tire OD is going to define overall vehicle height (along with suspension components), so if you want, say a 29" tire, you've got to do x, y, and z to get the truck to a particular height. That tire can be on a 22" rim or a 15.

With my new lowers I have to run bigger rims, just like on the import trucks. If I run a 15 they will rub when I'm rolling low.

Because wit 15" rims and drop spindles you run into the problem of your lower arm hitting the rim. So larger rims get rid of this problem is were I think he was going with this. And yes it does not always hit and their are alot of diferent things to take into account for proper ride height and laying frame but you have to start some where.

if ya wanna make your own spindles then you can get the balljoint plates at AA.....it is a race car catalog with all sorts of tabs and things for suspension......www.aa-mfg.com get their free catalog, it came in like 4 days when i requested one
