I pulled the transfer case and tranny yesturday but i cant get the rear crossmember out of the frame. Is this normal? Can the rear crossmember be taken out without drilling out the rivets?

Mine was bolted in??? You are talking about the tranny/t-case crossmember right..

exactly.....mine is bolted in too. But it will only slide inside the frame. I cant get it out of the frame because its made of 3 pieces and the 2 drop pieces are riveted to the main crossmember.

If I am thinking of the right part you should just have to twist it (one end forward and one end backwards) and it should come out. Also their is a small area of the lower frame that is rolled down abit and one end should side out in that location. Hope this helps I am a 2wd guy.

Sounds kinda like you have the SKID PLATE w/ 2 crossmembers, if so
YES just torch the lower 8 rivets and replace w/ bolts, look like this?

i added a pic. the cross member slides like a railing system. its so tight in here i cant cock it to get it out. Is this normal?

What I did was beat it out and then I rounded the corners before I put it back in it seemed to go in easier but yes it was a tight fit..

I pulled mune out yesterday, just had to take the bolts out and pull the drivers side to the back and it came out. it was a close fit but i didnt have to use a hammer
