Nice trucks everyone, and Mootree- yours is sweet with that old school look. I'm new around here and will hopefully get to post a picture or two soon. I have a 1956 3100 small window. Just got it a little over a month ago and am in the process of trying to clean it up and swap it onto a camaro sub-framed chassis. Hopefully it'll be a clean driver sometime! I look forward to talking with you all.

Just joined...wrong forum?

I spent a year and $1000 repairing this $500 57 3600 Wisconsin farm truck. Bought it for parts at Rawhide aucton for the 235 w/4 speed hydromatic to put in my ailing 1949. Original 8-17.5 bias tires, factory rear bumper, I'm second owner. Don't drive it much, rides and steers like an old truck, top speed about 55, and No airbags. My last old truck was a 1956 with a 58 300HP Cadillac 3-2bbl Motor 130+MPH. I sold it about 25 years ago. I often wonder if the young buyer survived it?

heres the new guys

I loved seeing everybodys trucks. Here is mine taken March 27th last year. I bought from a cat out in the desert for 400.00. Motor was locked, but pretty solid otherwise. I hope to fire it on the one year anniversery.

Heres Slick....

My 56 GMC Project Truck

The truck started out as a Big Window Shortbed that I bought off of Ebay. It had no drivetrain and a very badly installed Volare Clip. Now it sits on a s10-custom frame and soon to have a 1986 vette rear end.
My buddies shop is building it. Here is a photoshop I did of it.
I am doing pictures of the full build up of the truck on his site.
http://www.totallypolished.com/baccasgmc/1956_gmc.htm . I just wanted to share with everyone. I'm sure I'll be looking for parts for it.

Thanks for looking
Jim

Nice looking trucks. New to the board the truck I getting is a 57 stepside. Have a question for someone. Like the full paint jobs all one color bumpers, grill. How do get good paint color to come out on these surfaces? Some one told me to power coat mine. If I do, will the match good enough with the rest of the truck? Let me here it. Sorry no pics of mine yet.

No, I bought it shortly after the show. We drove down to Houston on a quick weekend trip to pick it up 12hrs one way. If you look real close in the Truckin mag that covered the show, there is a pic of the lifted Avalanche that was parked beside it and you can see the three carbs in the background, don't blink or you will miss it (took three times through the mag before I found it). Anyway, the previous owner wasn't 100% sure but we think it's an early 70's Lemans/GTO subframe. Kinda sucks cause he bought the frame already done and no one knows for sure. Makes it kinda hard to get parts when needed.

Here's my baby, my 58 Apache. Have a lot of plans for it and the way time and money runs, it won't be done for years. But, working on it is part of the fun! New paint, new rims, new engine, new interior.... etc...
