Are you running on a 1/8 or 1/4 mile track?

Re: Race what you have!!
I had a 94 S-10, 2wd, 4.3 L, 4L60E that ran a consistent 16.30 in the 1/4. I never did bracket race with it though. Just played around at the Street Fights here at the local dragstrip.

Re: Race what you have!!
I have raced both of the trucks I previously owned, thought about making
a pass in "GQ" but it sits up to high for my liking on a dragstrip, here's mine, 1967 Swb Fleet, 400 SBC, POWERGLIDE, 3.73's, Best was 9.556 in 1/8 1970 Swb Step, 250 Six, 350 Turbo, 4.10's, 465,000 Miles, 11.92 in 1/8 *Both these truck were pretty much stock, never owned a RACE vehicle.

Re: Race what you have!!
I haven't made it to a track yet with the truck but my jetta ran a 14.7 and the vette ran 15.1 in the quarter. The vette has 3.08 rear end its hard to get a great launch without it going sideways.

Re: Race what you have!!
There was a gal in WOodburn who got sick of sitting on the sidelines while her husband raced, so she started running the truck they used to trailer his race car.
It was a '98 Dodge 3500 Dully 4x4 Cumins. It was like watching paint dry when she went down the track, but Woodburn is bracket races, so she did rather well more often than not. I think her 1/4 mile times were in the mid 30's, if I recall correctly. |

Re: Race what you have!!
I have been taking a break from the dragtruck build up on a few friday nights and played in my 2001 4x4 suburban! I ran a 94 z71 the first night and it was ugly I beat him like he was tied to a stump probably 8 or 9 links!(4 of which came from reaction time) The next victim was a friend of mine in a grand cherokee 3 or 4 links! The one that surprised me was the durango R/T with the 5.9! He was a little quicker in the eighth but I still got there first and I pulled away in the 1/4! The Sub had a aem air intake and a super chips programer! I finally got the real race ride going!

Re: Race what you have!!
Yup.. those big tires do wonders for the reaction time.. I was nailing it on the 3rd yellow.. deep staged and finally cut an .03 light (third pass) the first 2 passes looked like I was sleeping. I got beat by a sand bagging 13 second (dial) vega. The cars that impressed me out there though were these Mitsubishi evolutions.. 2 of em out there running in the 11.75 range on street tires.. shocked the hell out of me.

Re: Race what you have!!
It's all about being consistant, that's what wins the $$$.I saw a yugo with the muffler cut off running 22's win his bracket..lol.That thing looked like it was nearly to the traps before the other cars even got to leave.
It's all about the fun.
