What did you get done? Easter edition!

Yeah I know it's really late. What can I say, I was up early this morning doing a final clean up around the pool, and some last minute trimming of the shrubs, and palm trees.

My wife's family came over at after church and the Easter festivities began. We hid Easter eggs fire the little people, and fired up the pit for the big ones. Man what a feast. We had brisket, grilled chicken, and three different kinds of sausage links on the pit. There was tons of food, and lots of deserts to have after.

After the the eggs were all found (we think) it was time to relax and get caught up on family stories. The little people played in the pool, and the big ones relaxed in the shade. Life was good today.

I didn't get a darn thing truck related done. I spent yesterday dragging the hose while my buddy pressure washed my driveway and pool deck. The rest of the day was spent working in the yard.

What did you get done?

More yard pics-

I got back from my Las Vegas trip. Got practically strip searched, lost $$$, first time to fly, and just got back home. I'm off tomorrow and time to work on the blazer.

Re: What did you get done? Easter edition!

Got my valve covers painted. Duplicolor Metalcast, red. Awesome paint. Started putting them back on. Started an oil change, will finish that after I get the other VC on. Looked at what all needs to be done to it. Really need to clean up the engine compartment.

Re: What did you get done? Easter edition!

I managed to get quite a bit done (love being off on Good Friday). Not much picture worthy tho....intsalled trans x-member and worked on firewall some more, mounted the battery in the bed, mounted remote solenoid, mounted relays & switches and ran wiring for the water pump, fuel pump, fans, and starter

Re: What did you get done? Easter edition!

I washed my truck on Saturday. I found a small rust hole when I was drying it. The truck leaked around the light on the back of the cab when I bought it. I suspect that allowed water to get into the cab corner and rot it out from the inside out.

On Sunday, I pulled the exhaust off the right side to weld up a few holes. I suck at welding, but the exhaust is a good place to practice since no one can see the welds.

One of the holes was almost as big around as a pencil. It was on the top of the pipe where it couldn't be seen. It looks like the catalytic converter was welded on and the sloppy installer just didn't weld all the way around. The exhaust is much quieter now...

Since the wife and I hosted Easter this year, most of the weekend was spent cleaning and entertaining. Oh, and I ate too much on Sunday.

Re: What did you get done? Easter edition!

Started the wiring last weekend and this weekend me and my best man Daniel had the first part working with power since i started building the truck 11 years ago!!!!!
The windshieldwiper is working like it should and is now a unit with intermittend and washerfunction on the steering column and electric washerpump! The original had the standard wiper with switch in dash and washerpump and the wipermotor!
The fusepanel is fully wired and the ignition has power!Good progress i think!
I changed the hydrobrakebooster for a vacuumunit and put the hoodlatch with release in!

Re: What did you get done? Easter edition!

Saturday I went over to Outlaw Motorsports to try and help out a bit. Joe was installing a rear suicide door kit on a 94-96 Impala. I helped grind off the door brackets and also helped clean up some of the shop.

After I got home I mowed the front yard and gave up on the back because it was already 95 and I was too tired, I'll get the back done this weekend after I spray our peach and pear trees for bugs.

Sunday was my sons birthday and his friends as well so we all celebrated at his friends house with a sponge bob bounce house with cake and easter eggs.

Thanks guys. I have put a lot of hours and quit a few $$$ in it as well. This year I got a jump start on the heat and got my beds in shape before it got to hot to enjoy working in them.

Beautiful place. Wish mine looked that nice, I would never leave home.

I painted valve covers, oil pan and timming cover (Chevy orange). Thinking about going "Plain Jane" on the 454 build. No chrome. Not sure yet. Found a 4 core radiator for the 454 also.

Re: What did you get done? Easter edition!

For Easter I dident do too much actually it was so boring it was surreal feeling. I dont care for Easter much but I wont get into it.

Today it was dead at work so I got a few of my own projects going. Fixed a few steering issues with my fork lift still need to figure out where its puking HYD fluid.

Spent some time with the 56 Buick. It hasent ran in a few years but Ive tinkerd once in a blue moon. The previous owner put a buzz pump on the fender well and by passed the stock fuel pump. Last few times Ive tried to get it fired up the pump sounded real weak and I figured it was dead. Just for kicks I pulled the fuel line a blew compressed air back toward the tank and heard a thunk then air bubbling through the fuel. Hooked the line back up turned the pump on and it buzzed to life nice and strong even stared to pump fuel but none was going into the carb. Pulled the inline needel and seat off and it was covered in gunk so I cleaned it up screwed it back in and fired the car up. Ran real nice even with the yellow crap gas thats been sitting in the tank for years. I added some brake fluid pumped up the brakes, added some power steering fluid and some ATF and went for a cruise in the parking lot. It drives real nice for a 50 year old car kinda sweet that it has power steering and power brakes. too bad its a (One day I'm going to get it going) project.

I ordered the EXPRESS Kit from Ron Francis Wire Works and we are very pleased with it.It took me quiet a while to figure out wich kit to buy.The Wire Works Kit was the one because the folks there helped me with all my questions on the phone and the price is much better than the Painless kit!
The Painless kit has a fusepanel that fits directly in the exsisting holes in the firewall, but that was not to important for me!
Both kits have the standard cuircuits but the Wire Works Kit has 4 circuits that you can switch from ignitionhot to constanthot by just moving the fuse to another place!See the 4 fuses on the left!

There is a new headlightswitch included and all the wires are labeled every 2 inches, connectors for different columns, instructions and basicly all you need is in!
I´m happy with that kit!Even if some translating is required, remember.I´m from germany!

Re: What did you get done? Easter edition!

Since I am still on Easter break, I figured I'd chime in. I cut out my rusty rocker and cab support and am ready to install part of a new floor and kickpanel. since my cab corners are shot, i took the bed apart and removed it, only to fine every body mount spot under the bed was rotted. So for my last day of vacation here, I guess I'll attempt to patch those spots and maybe cut out my bad cab corner. I hate rust.

Re: What did you get done? Easter edition!

Well finishind installing the top of my tranny, and got her home. Runs like a champ and no tranny leaks. That synthetic gear oil sure quiets things down, but man does it leak when there is a pinhole. Other than that cooked some stuff for easter Sunday, went to church on Easter and then chilled at the mom in laws.

All in all a great weekend
