1968-72 Seats

Lookin 4 ideas on a set of seats or a seat,to go in a 1972. They can be bucket or one straight. I'm wanting big plush. But not tall. I don't like seats that cover up the rear window. Rather have leather or vinly. May make a console. Also the fuel tank, has been removed from the cab. What have you seen or used ??? Jasper

Re: 1968-72 Seats

'99+ 1500-series GM truck buckets are nice and plush.

a couple of people from the forum have done second-row seats from the '99+ tahoes. very plush.

be careful to add proper supports for the seats if you're using the integrated belts, i hear the seat will rip off the floor in a second.

if you want to find the thread on the tahoe seats with pictures, hit the 'back' button in your browser, look in the top right hand corner of "Search this forum" and search for either "tahoe" or "seats". you'll find that a good 100 members posted this same question before you. here are some examples, with pictures:

The search feature is your friend!!!!!!

Re: 1968-72 Seats

I just picked up some 2005 Excursion 60/40 that I am going to try. They sit low and seem to fold out like the others for storage.

Re: 1968-72 Seats

I got a 60/40 with no arm rest or head rest out of a 89ish Silverado. They were dirty, but no rips or tears and came with a middle seat belt for $50 off Craigs List.

I used the stock bracket, but had to space the hump mount 3/4 of an inch with the low hump in my truck. They aren't as nice as the Tahoe seats, but they work well and are 100 times better than the beat up bench they replaced.

I have similar 60/40 seats in my 72, really comfortable, I have the ones with the headrests, I may be taking the headrests off. Mine are out of early 90's Chevy. Easy swap and much better than factory bench IMO.

I have also relocated the factory gas tank and these give me a bit more legroom.
