After hearing about using door seals from S-10 blazers I went to look for some yesturday. I couldn't find any that were in good shape but while poping my head in the sliding door of an Asto mini van I noticed the weather stipping on the door jam. It was in great shape and really long. So I yanked it out ( no tools required, but I did kind of bend the krimp part of it ) They charged me about $5 for it so hey no big deal if it's no good. When I got it home and started re-bending back into shape the pinch-grip part I felt 2 "thick" parts on the gasket side. "Rats" I said to myself,, "this might be too thick for the door to close ". So I cut the seal at one of the thick parts ( side cutters work perfect) and found a piece of foam inside about 1/2" diamater by about 8" long. Good part was it pulled right out. Now , how the hell do I get the other piece out without cutting the seal? Well, there were tiny little holes in the gasket by the other "thick part" . It was amazingly easy to spread the little holes enough to get a hold on the inner piece of foam and it pulled right out. So I installed the seal on my truck and closed the door ( I'd heard with the other seals doors were hard to close due to the thicker seals ) The door closed great, the seals looked great and I was a happy guy. With the "thick part" still inside I doubt if it would have closed without a real hard slam, if at all. So keep your eyes open for minivans if you need new door seals. I think the location of the seals on the body of the minivan helps them avoid wear and tear. They are plenty long ( about 3' extra ), cheap, and they work good. Happy JunkYarding everybody

Purple, Did you use the weatherstripping from the front doors or the sliding door.

How about going down the road? Are they tight enough so there is no wind noise? I need to go junkyarding soon, I was thinking of getting new seals and seatbelts out of an s10...

I used the seal from the sliding door. ( so, you gotta find 2 vans ) Not sure about the year, but they look pretty much the same for quite a few years. I have an 89 for a grocery getter/ kid hauler, we have fairly new one at work and they look similar. Not sure about the van front doors,( I never looked) I haven't driven it yet, I'm still painting the interior, but they seem to seal real good, no daylight like before ( the old seals were about 80% missing). It does take a little more of a slam to close the door than before, but not enough to consider adjusting anything. By Saturday I hope to take it for a spin and report back. hope this helps

I have not installed mine yet but--- I got the seal from the ChevyLumina/PontiacTransport front doors. Doesn't seem to have a hard spot at corner like some of the S10 seals. Also is longer than necessary to fit the truck. Cut to fit and hide the joint under the stainless door jamb sill.

I have not looked at the Astro vans but will do so shortly.

4X4.. removing the piece of foam from inside the seal didn't require cutting. The seals are about 3' too long for our trucks. So I cut it at one of the thicker parts ( you can't see it, but you can feel it, the seal part is hollow, but in 2 places there's these stiffeners inside ) and pulled out the plug. For the other thick part I just spread open 1 of the little holes that are in the seal. They're tiny hardly bigger than a pencil lead, but you can spread them apart. I just stuck a nail in to get a pice of the foam started and grabbed it with needle nose plyers and pulled the pice out. Also when I first posted I didn't have the steel door sills in place. Since installing them it's a little harder to close the door, not sure why that is. Perhaps a little adjusting may be required after all.
