Fleetside/Wideside Tailgate Handles

O.K., experts, fill me in. I bought a '67-'72 repro. handle, and it appears to be a copy of the '81-'87 C/K tailgate handle. I have a new G.M. handle, part #15569031, which is a '81-'87 handle. It looks like it would fit just fine (as does the repro.), the mounting holes are in the same place, as is the holes for the latch rods, ect.. But, the thing is my original handle has a larger grip on it. So, the questions are does anyone offer a 'correct' '67-'72 handle, and does a '81-'87 handle look O.K. on a '67-'72?
