Ball Joint Replacements

I need new ball joints on my 72. Unfortunately, I don't really have the time to do it myself before I have to move my truck 3 hours south from its current location in Indianapolis. I went to a shop and they quoted me approximately $700 including alignment. Is this an acceptable price? Should I make time to just do it myself at this price?

Just trying to get some insight from the more experienced, thanks in advance.

Re: Ball Joint Replacements

That sounds crazy to me, the ball joints themselves are like $20 a piece and any shop should be able to do it in just a couple of hours. Alignments are cheap...what does a two wheel go for these days, like $50 or so?

Re: Ball Joint Replacements

Moog ball joints locally were $140.00 or a little less. The ball joint press went for about $30.00 rental (free if ball joints purchased). So for $170.00 and a few hours.......
BTW there were other ball joints for less.I think the cheapest was around $85.00 . These prices are for all 4.
