i would like to put a tilt column in eventually.... i was wondering how hard it was to put in, and what is involved....my truck is together and i would like to keep it that way if possible...what would i have to do?....also... are there any other tilt columns that bolt right up for our year trucks....73-later , just widening my window of options...thanks

I think all of the later model tilt columns have the ignition switch on them. Which you could just leave unhooked, but something to keep in mind.

This should answer most, if not all, of your questions. I managed it fine in one afternoon. Just a little tricky (trial and error) getting the neutral safety switch aligned juuuust right. Good luck!

Hey. Swapping in a tilt is pretty easy. To me the hardest part was getting the back up lights adjusted right. As for other tilts that will work, You can look in chevy/gmc vans and motor homes. If you use a van tilt, you will need to collapse the short shaft between the steering column and the steering box. Again no biggie here either. If your like me, you can swap out a column in about an hour or if a buddy comes by with beer, about 4 hours haha.
