Some guidance on Bagging a lifted Burb - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey All, Looking into the possibility of putting some bags on my 72 Burb that rests on a 81 chassis, It's a 1/2 ton with about 5-6'' lift. Springs up front and blocks in the rear. What I would like to do is soften my spring packs up considerably so she sags almost to the point of rubbing on the tires, some bump-stops so I dont rub . I would like to have the bags deflated in this position for loading/unloading of passengers or cargo. With a flip of the switch I would like to elevate to ride height. I would also like to pump the bags up full for max lift. Similar to what alot of you guys are doing with bags to drop your rides, but using the bags here for lift. I estimate about 8-10'' of lift from deflated to fully filled. I think this could be done but I need some help from some people who have the insight necessary on these systems. Thanks.

Seems like a reasonable task to accomplish. You won't likely get that much lift, however... unless you use some kind of lever system to multiply the lift (ala cantilevered arms). There are some bags available that do have that kind of lift, but they're either immense in size (and you won't have room for them) or they're scary pseudo-engineered (ala the multi-convo units from shAIM).

Contitech makes tripple convolute bags and are very good quality. MOST of the stuff at shAIM is garbage though. To do it you need to build a massive link system for both front and rear axles and use a hydraulic steering system. Its mad money but can definitely be done.

oh yeah, i forgot... please please please do this! Im tired of seein the new s%&# lifted on bags... A 72 BURB WITH AN AIR LIFT WOULD BE SOME SICK, SHOW WINNING, MAGAZINE FEATURE S*^$.

Oh, where would I do the introduction thing? lol
