Steering shaft/ column question
I currently have an automatic steering column with a one piece steering shaft which goes to a manual steering box on my 68. I would like to put power steering with the two piece steering shaft. Is there a overall length difference with the two shafts? Can I leave my column in place, remove the shaft, and replace the steering box and use the two piece shaft inside of my column?

ChevyKevey - Yes. It would probably be easier to convert if you took it out but I think you can do it without removing the column.
I think I would do it in this order: 1. detach shaft at manual box 2. remove manual box 3. remove steering wheel and push out long shaft 4. install upper shaft being careful with the NS/REV switch 5. install PS box 6. install intermediate shaft 7. ENJOY Not too sure on order of 5 or 6 - whatever works best. I think it would be easier to get things lined up without the intermediate in the way. Just my 2cents worth - Bob
