72 GMC fender

I bought what I was told to be a front fender off of a 1972 GMC assuming it would fit on my 72 Chevy. But, I was just told yesterday that they are different. I held it up to the truck and they look identical. What's the difference?

Thanks,
Jared

Re: 72 GMC fender

GMC used the same fenders from 67-72 with the 67 being only different with no turn signal cutout. 67-68 chevy fenders are the same as 67-72 gmc fenders (again with 67 differing with the turn signal cutout). Chevy used different fenders from 69-72 than GMC did. Your hood and grill will not fit if it really is a 72 gmc fender, the seller may have been incorrect if they look the same to you? The 69-72 chevy fender are indented on the ends so the grill will fit over the front of the fender. Post some pics and someone can help you for sure.

Re: 72 GMC fender

I don't have a picture of it yet, but I figured the chrome piece on the end came off and the Chevy grille would fit there. I'll have to look again.

It's definetly a GMC fender though because it has a GMC emblem and the GMC trim on the front.

Okay, I see it now. But it will fit on my brothers 67 right? He's wanting to put the side marker lights on anyway.
