GM Performance ZZ4 350 Engine??

Do any of you have this engine or know someone that does? I am looking to buy this motor for my truck and was curious about what people that have experience with it think.

Also, where could I get the best deal on a crate engine? My local Chevy house didn't seem to excited to sell me one.

Man, they were raffling one of them off at "Roddin' on the River" in Laughlin, NV last weekend. I bought $40.00 worth of losing tickets! I'd love to have that engine! Most guys will probably tell you Scoggin-Dickey for the motor, I think they get $3600.00, but don't know about shipping.

I have purchased three of these engines and all three have had problems. Maybe I'm the only one to get the lemons though. All three of mine had defective parts in them from GM. None were raced or abused. GM fixed one of them but only because I knew the guys at the garage. They seems to be running fine now, but it makes you want to tear them down just to be sure. This whole episode really burnt me out. And to think I bought them so I wouldn't have to worry about the engines. They do seem to have plenty of power though.

Thanks for the feedback. I couldn't get the link to work. I was suprised to hear that the motor has no warranty with it.

Thumbs up

I boughy my ZZ-4 in 1997 from www.sdpc2000.com and have not had any problems and runs excellent. They do come with a 12-month-unlimited mileage warranty on all parts but no labor. Or that is what I got with mine. Anyway I would buy another one.
