to everyone wondering how much bags actually cost...
ive just completed buying my whole system.
bags air lift gen 2, 2b7s for front and 2b6ext for rear -- $250 shipped (airlift had buy 3 get 4 deal last week, so really $320 shipped) brackets front alter images brackets -- $80 shipped rear brackets -- no need on trailing arm rears tank and valves 8(for 4 way FBSS control) x 10mm 3/8" smcs -- $175 used from my friend(around $280 new) air lift 5 gallon 8x1/2" ported tank -- $75 shipped. compressor 1 x VIAIR450 100% duty - $230 line fittings etc 75ft of 1/2" line -- $60 all fittings + hardware (not cheapo hardware store stuff) and 150psi pressure switch -- $200. 2 x dual needle guages with line -- $85 Total -- $1150 for w/ buyin specials and valves used. woulda been $1330 without deals. you can put a kit together for less, smaller valves, only 4 valves for a crappy 2 way sistem, no guages, crappy small slow 25% duty compressor, only 3/8" line and 1/4" valves. you could probably save $325 going this route but for $325 why skimp? only last thing i need is a switch box or rocker switches, not very expensive like $25-30 and about 3 months of my time to install this (dont get to work much while in college) things i did not include that you will need (i left these out cause some people already have these, i had a few already.) c-notch -- bolt in $130? 2.5" drop spindles -- $230+/- adjustable tracking arm -- $?? i dunno already got one on my truck 2" blocks -- $30 new shorter shocks -- $100-150 2x 12 packs of your choice beer -- $varies |

i just spent $2000 on my setup, plus i still have to fabricate my mounts. heh

Just curious why you went with 1/2" line. You're using 3/8" valves, which means your maximum air flow is limited to what a 3/8" valve can do.

8 Ekstensive Metal Works 1/2" 500psi valves ($70) 1 Viair 450 ($240) Pressure Switch ($25) Check Valve ($25) Double Bottle Brackets (for nitrogen)($185) Ekstensive Quick-disconnect fittings (all) ($200) Switches ($5?) Guages ($20?) 1/2" Line (Threw it in for free) Also bought a rollpan w/LEDs and cotroller box for blinkers/brakes ($240) Bought Tank from AIM (9gal 8-port)($69) These are all 'round about prices.. little more or less.. I think he shipped it for free as well.

I lowered my truck for pretty cheap.
~$250 2.5 drop spindles + $45 alignment ~ $0 Remove 1 leaf spring sits pretty nice, but not a lot of load capacity. I'm looking at some auxilary air bags though to haul around a motorcycle. |

I don't think you read all of my list. The valves run on the 3/8" line. The 1/4" line is for the GAUGES, LOL. Compressors, I'll have to check, they are not the fastest compressors in the world but with 2 it's not soooo bad. Me I run Co2. WAAAAAAYYYYY BETTER!!

you guys do know that 3/8" valves are optimized with 1/2" line? i believe when they classify it as 1/2" line that is the overall diameter and not the inside diameter of the line which is equal to the the valves diameter which is truely 3/8" i just went for one big fast 100% duty compressor. i was considering two smaller slower compressors just incase if one went out id still have one to limp home on. |

Just my $0.02...... 3/8" valves/air line is plenty fast. I'd actually like to slow down the rear bags...... they raise too fast for my taste. Maybe the addition of the tailgate and rear bumper will slow it down bit

Dropt72shortbed, the MUFFLERS can be put on the dump port to slow the drop speed. But thats no FUN!!! LOL
slammed67, you might try these metering valves for the back, if you think its too fast. I can get em for $17 ea.

Just wondering, since this won't be happening for years by my guess...
What's involved in bagging a leaf-spring truck? I've got 4" drop leaf springs from Early Classic and while I love the stance, the ride isn't exactly that good (as opposed to my friend's now-wrecked '69 dropped just about the same, maybe a bit lower, coil rear...rode like a Caddy) Basically, I want a better ride with the ability to control ride height a bit (not much, but I personally wouldn't mind dropping the rear a bit more most of the time, don't really care about being able to slam it) and it'd be especially nice to be able to stiffen the front and the right rear for drag racing.

A leaf truck will never ride like a Caddy. Sorry, just the nature of the beast. Coils always have a smoother ride.
The good news is you can slam out a leaf truck and have a pretty descent ride. I did my 72 GMC and it didn't ride too bad.

Oh, I know it'd never ride as good...but would it be worth it for an improvement in ride quality?
I'd like to pin it on my shocks, but said friend had the same ones in his - Belltech Nitrodrops...
