Restore intrument Cluster?
I received my Tach Cluster yesterday. It's in decent shape. I haven't tested it yet. The needles are faded and a couple of tabs are busted.
I was thinking I could either swap the needles from a couple of parts clusters I have here or repaint them Dayglo Orange. How do I remove the needles without breaking them? I think the white plastic housings are different for tach and non tach clusters, are they? If they are I was thinking I could glue the tabs on from a parts cluster. Any glue recommendations for that? They yellow and red sections that indicate the "danger zone" are faded also but I can live with that for now, since It's a diesle the true "danger zone" will be a good 2 grand before that anyway.

Re: Restore intrument Cluster?
I'm kinda interested in repainting my needles too, but I've always figured they'd be too sun-brittled to take off.... what do y'all think of ^^^ this idea?

Re: Restore intrument Cluster?
I just bought a can of spray paint flourescent orange and sprayed it in the cap and then used a model paint brush to paint them with. Turned out real good. I tried to pull mine off to paint them but I couldn't. I thought they might break too.

Re: Restore intrument Cluster?
I never had any luck getting them off in one piece, so I just painted mine to get them better looking

Re: Restore intrument Cluster?
I painted mine last weekend. I just put a slit in a piece of paper, slipped it around the needle, taped up the slit, and sprayed away!

Re: Restore intrument Cluster?
Another thing. Do not use any kind of a cleaner to clean the dials, the white paint for the numbers will come off. It is best just to dust them with a soft cloth.

Re: Restore intrument Cluster?
Thanks, I have seen that happen wwith other clusters too. I had planned on just a soft cloth and a canned air duster to clean it up.
