What did you get done.

I have been on the go all weekend so I am posting this late again. I was supposed to have the weekend off and planned to rent a trailer and go pick up my 77. My service manager got sick and I ended up having to work for him.

About the only thing truck related I accomplished was washing my daily driver...

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done.

Change the oil, adv the timing 2° and turned down the fast idle a bit.

Re: What did you get done.

Went to the Pate swap meet in Ft.Worth on Saturday morning w/a buddy. He needed some tail lights for his ElCamino & I was looking for a scrap radiator core for my 68 (I was going to cut & splice). I found one that had alot of surface rust but the guy wouldn't come down on his price. Since he wouldn't budge, I wanted to find a screwdriver or something to pick @ it & make sure it wasn't too bad so we said we stop back by. We decided to walk around more & just pick it up on our way out..... then I talked w/Kennys Truck Parts. They had a re-pop for $20 more than the other I was looking at. For $20 difference, I'll see how well it fits. If the fit is lousy, I'll cut it up & just use the corner like I planned. If it's good, I'll have a 100% rust free core support.

Today I worked on prepping more of the 350's parts for paint. I was scuffing the oil pan & started noticing the POR15 was peeling off just like what happened on my intake. So it will be stripped down to metal again & painted w/something else. While waiting for stuff to dry, I decided to get some interior pieces re-installed in my74.

Well . . .... it's almost mid-night so you can guess how well that went .

Re: What did you get done.

Got lots done on the GMC. Another few weeks, and she'll almost be driveable.

I wound up adjusting my timing and upping my 77's TV pressure slightly. She actually downshifts properly now (sweet, 0 - 60 in like 10 seconds instead of 17) and has a lot more balls. Considering a TBI swap on the 77 as well.

Re: What did you get done.

I went to the Pate swapmeet Saturday. I left Friday night after work, and got to DFW a little after midnight. I caught a few hours of sleep in a cheap hotel, walked the swapmeet for 9 hours, and drove home. I'm too old for that. I had to spend Sunday resting.

My new JET carb came in Thursday. Its all pretty and shiny! I hope to get it installed one night this week.

Re: What did you get done.

funny thing happened this weekend...

went to screw on the oil filter to check the driver's side header clearance...
and there wasn't anything to screw it onto.... pretty funny, got my creeper, rolled under the truck, and was like... "WTF???"

never noticed it before, but the guy that had the block before me must have been running a remote oil filter... or the machine shop forgot to re-install it.

did some more wiring....
mounted radiator & elec. fans

Re: What did you get done.

I managed to take the 86 k10 from this,

to this...

and this..

Scored a free 350, tons of parts, and borrowed the guys cherry pciker on friday. Then cleaned up, and painted the 350, and put some parts on to ensure the bolt holes were ok.

Also the picture of the motor out was after degreasing and scrubbing the underhood area, frame rails and everything else
