Itt: We talk about rear cross sills

looking for some input and pics if possible of rear sill repair.

I was considering buying this:
http://www.carolinaclassictrucks.com...ody-parts.html
or this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/71-72...QQcmdZViewItem

My rear sill and rear bed is badly rusted out...if it was just the top I'd probably go with a flat patch section but the sides are getting really thin. I got a rear bed patch panel to cut and fit over the rear sill once I settle on a way to repair it, and for the amount I can buy a rear sill (as linked above) I'd just as soon save my time rather than sectioning in some U-shaped channel as I suggested in a post a few days ago.

So, is the pickup rear sill identical to the blazer rear sill, or is some modification needed? Anybody actually graft in a full rear sill? Pics? Advice?

May wanna talk to Wes at www.classicheartbeat.com or Les at www.gmcpauls.com. Both are vendors that support the board and seem to be pretty knowledgeable on these trucks.

Well from what I can tell neither one is for a 72, or at least so I have
been told here, IIRC the 72's had 2 raised sections like the pic below
for the curved frame rails, no inner bumper brackets on a 72 only

My Blazer is a 71 so that's not a concern (although I didn't know that, so that helps me from making a purchase I shouldn't in the future)

Otherwise will one of those two items just graft in place with some welding and grinding?

Pretty sure it will, but no expert, still not positive about the 72 only thing
