From Steel to wood bed

Does anybody know how I can convert my steel floor bed to a wood floor bed. Can it can be completely unbolted and put back together as a wood bed?

Re: From Steel to wood bed

I've always been fond of getting wood...

I'm not sure myself, but some of the bed pieces (besides just the rails and the wood) are different.
These guys are board members as well as vendors:

They have a great site and are always around the board giving out advice...
Good luck,

I have heard that you have to use the front seal that faces the cab because it is different on a steel bed. I just don't know. I would like to go all wood bed though if it were possible

The vendor Mar-K has an adapter plate for the front panel so you can use your old one - I think, if I remember correctly from the last time I was cruising their site. They are in OKC and if you end up getting some heavy stuff from them, I could possibly drop them off my next trip to Texas.

It sounds so simple when you say it like that. Its pretty much true but there are a lot of parts that will not interchange. You can view our instruction for the conversion http://www.mar-k.com/steel_floor_to_wood_bed.html and it gives a list of the parts that need to be replaced. Short bed and long bed parts interchange and it doesn't matter what year from 67-72, they are all the same. Only thing that is not bolted together is the rear sill is welded and bolted to the bedsides. It can be easily cut away for removal. There are many board members that have done this conversion and when completed with the right parts it is just like the original wood floor beds.

Let us know if you need more information.
