fleetside box mounting questions

Figured I'd get the biggest response here. Anyone here ever mount a new take off 8' bed onto their 73-87 truck? A place local to me has new take offs with spray in liner tailgate, lamps, moldings, etc the whole 9 yards for $800 each. For the price its cheaper than ordering new panels, working to make em fit together, etc.

Wondering if its more headache than is worth the hassle? I have dual tanks so would probably just cut a hole in the other side and put hummer style tank doors on both sides after. Saw a 73-80 with one of these some time ago and it didnt look toooo bad iirc.

Anyone do it or have pics of it? are the cross sills a pita to match up and mount after?

Re: fleetside box mounting questions

Do you mean new takeoff like 2005, or a newer bed in the 73-87 model range? I put an 86 bed on my 73, the only problem I had was the side of the fuel filler hose.
