700R4 Trans cooler? Anybody been there, done that? Reccomendations?
I'm into tranny mode and have been thinking I need a cooler for my 700R4...anybody used or know anything about those cylindrical finned style coolers? I see they make an dual line 18" version that is said that they are superior to the "old style" radiator ones??? True???

Re: 700R4 Trans cooler? Anybody been there, done that? Reccomendations?
I have used those on streetrods where there wasn't enough room in front of the radiator or not a good way to make a raditator cooler look decent. The cylinder ones are supposed to be better because of the way they transfer heat BUT....Remember one of those on a framerail doesn't ever see as much air flow as a radiator mounted cooler that not only has the air from the vehicle moving blowing right through it instead of right by it but the radiator fan air as well and the cylinder type doesn't really have any air moving across it when the vehicle is stopped so it won't help bring the temp down quickly when you stop. I have used the cylinder ones and they do work but in a truck (especially if I towed or hauled anything in it) I would tend to opt for the one I know always has air moving through it. JMO though like I said many people use the cylinder ones too.
