If you have the 67-72 style control arms you can run bags without cups. Those control arms are really shallow and the bags wont rub the sides. I would still weld a flat plate in there to actually bolt the lower bag plate in so that the bag doesn't move around. But it shouldn't hit anything either way.

Re: No bodydrop

does it matter what brand of bags you use, iam bagging my truck i've try the bag and no cup, and the bag does not sit in the arm. i got my bags from fbi in cali. so right now iam thinking of getting djm arm and cut the coil spring mount so the bag will sit in place.

Re: No bodydrop

This thread is hilarious. I totally missed it. Anyway the dude did say the bag rubs when fully deflated, so I guess that settles that. I wouldn't want the bag to rub anytime AT ALL. I guess the answer as described by various people on this forum (and in particularly the new thread named "lower cups" http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=199481 ) is to use a lower plate and no cup on the lower arm. Sounds like a plan to me.

Re: No bodydrop

The tailights are definitely different, and although you may not particularly care for the look, you have to respect the amount of work it must of took to make it work, and the uniqueness of it. As for the bag rubbing, if it only rubs at the fully deflated position, I wouldn't worry about it. How often are you going to be DRIVING with the front completely aired out? Sure, if it's a daily driver and you don't care to be laying frame then might want to take a different route, but for a weekend warrior or a show truck, it'll take a long time for a bag in that atmosphere to fail due to it being in the lower a-arm like that.

Re: No bodydrop

I totally agree with 67Fleet, my '72 that was a bagged daily driver rubbed when it was laid out, so I didn't drive with it laid out. Your really only supposed to drive with them at the aligned pressure anyways. Not that we all do, but.......

Re: No bodydrop

I always set my stuff up so the bag is nice and straight at ride height (which for me is as low as I can get it and still drive) lol usually the crossmember on mine is on the ground when the bags are deflated so I don't pay much attention to how they look as long as there is nothing sharp in the way. If you look at air ride techs bags they have roll plates (I put them on the slam specialties bags on my 53 just to be safe) it's basically just a rounded cup for the bag to roll over on when it's deflated kinda like a smooth a arm cup.
