new fuel pump recomendations - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

It has been suggested that some of my carb issues may be fuel pump related, so I am going to upgrade to a new fuel pump. Right now it just needs to feed a very stock 250 with a 4bbl 450cfm carb, but down the road the pump will need to feed a more performance oriented 250, so I was hoping someone could give me a recommendation as to how many gph I need in a pump and what brand/model would be good to look at.
Also, with an upgraded pump will I need to run a fuel pressure regulator?

onless you go real wild on your next engine... just stick with a stock pump.

I think A stock pump would be fine for your application and no need for a pressure reg unless you run a higher vol. electric pump. But then I dont think Mr. Edelbrock or Mr. Holley would tell you that since they'd rather have your dollar...
