1984 K10 Transfer case leak?

I just bought a very nice restored 84 1/2 ton for my son from a friend of mine. It is a 4 speed manual tranny. I got home and put it into 4WD and it started leaking out of the area where the front driveshaft goes into the transfer case. I doubt it was leaking at all until I put it into 4WD and made the shaft turn. I have never worked on this type before and it is not like my 72 which you can unbolt and change the seal. What is involved with changing the seal or whatever it takes to fix the problem. It leaks pretty bad. Thanks

Re: 1984 K10 Transfer case leak?

RShaips,
The case should be a 208C which means the yoke is a bolt on. Just need to take the bolts out of the CV joint and then you can access it.
PNs that I have are
4167924 yoke nut
4210973 front output yoke washer
4167912 front output yoke
4210611 slinger
3946 front shaft seal
4269186 front shaft bearing

Re: 1984 K10 Transfer case leak?

It is a NP208. I didn't see any bolts, I was hoping there was some way to replace it without breaking the case in half. I guess I need to remove the driveshaft and yoke to be able to see the bolts. I have been trying to find a drawing of this area but have not had any luck. Thanks for your help

PM me with an email address and I'll send you an exploded view if I can get it to scan clear enough.
