just bought a 68 swb. This is my first 67-72. My problem is with the cab. It has the usual problems such as rocker panels, cab corners and floor pan. Im not much of a welder so I wanted to know if anyone knew of someone in the Houston area who did quality work on these trucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, this doesn't help you in the houston area, but I'll say two things:

1) Goodmark is here in GA and they will repair everything on your cab at a very reasonable price using GM-certified panels/parts! You just gotta get the cab here - it will cost less than a local place, I would almost guarantee it. Price list and more info are here: http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/GIC.htm

2) You don't hafta be a killer welder. One of the board members here put out a series of training videos, one of which deals with repairing the trouble cab spots in every cab. He's well known outside this community. His name is ebfabman and his website is here: http://ebfabman.com/ - it's a 3 DVD set at a very reasonable price which covers all common aspects of rust repair in our trucks.

Go with eb's video's. Goodmark is not doing trucks at this time. They do not have the line setup yet and they do not know when they will have it.

I am going with eb and do it myself. You can do it if you take your time at least you will know what you got. Just my opinion.

We do it just as inexpensive as Goodmark. We use all the same parts they do also. We install everything we sell. If you want to do it yourself we will help you do that to. You can even do it at our place. You can call us at 800-398-0537. I assume you are in Houston not Houton

I have just replaced rocker panels,cab corners,floor pan,& front cab mounts. I used ebfabman DVD,s and ever thing looks good and I am not a pro.

I am in the same boat your in. Not a great wielder but need an excuse to buy one....How good of a wielder do you have to be.....or my be the question is how good of a grinder do you have to be.

I've got EB's DVD's. Information is great. Still contemplating doing it myself or having it done. Wife thinks I should just pay someone to do it. I'm leaning more towards buying welder
