By mild cam I am guessing its the spec's of an RV cam. I would say less than 265 is a safe bet with the info you provided maybe a lot less depending on the heads or maybe the heads are awsome and its closer to 300... probobly not what you wanted to hear... Pete

I think everyone thinks 300 hp is easy..a fresh 350 with 9-1CR and a cam in the 215 duraton range @.050 and a good set of heads will make 300 HP. a stock 350 maybe has 225 hp(fresh) some less.. its real easy to say my motor makes 350HP..I DD2000 my engine a dozen times...figured I had around 340 hp and 380 ftlbs of torque.. and that is with a motor that was purposed built..all professional machine work..arp fastners..good rods and pistons,,the best of parts and planing..in real life its closer to 320 hp. Which is A LOT..I spank many 400 HP cars...sorry to rant..lol..just dont expect unrealistic results. Ive learned to guess on the low side...less disapointment..think as your engine as an air pump..more air in..more air out..more power..better intake and carb...better cam...better exhaust will get you more power.. your probably around 225Hp now and with the improvments, around 250-260..Its best to make a plan of what you want...now and into the future..buy parts that can be used on future improvements

I agree. I'm guessing 300 HP with my combo as listed below ...maybe 325 max which is completely streetable with gobs of low end torque and relatively quiet. Ive run cars and trucks with a LOT more top end horsepower but you sacrifice so much on the bottom end that way that it makes for a miserable driving experience the 95% of the time your'e not getting on it. 400 HP with a daily driver ( small block ) can be a real pain in the real world and at the gas pump.

I read in fourwheeler a while back that a stock 75 350 4bbl made 160hp. If that's true that sucks!

Don't forget though chevypunk as the yaers went on the smog restictons got more and more resticive so comparing a 75 motor to a 70 is going to make a world of difference.

I know that with a totally non emmisions carburetor , cast iron intake with no EGR and dished pistons with a stock cam, the motor on my 265 mercruiser ( 350 chevrolet engine ) in my boat is rated at 265 HP . Same motor as a mid 70's target master but with no emmisions controls .

Just look at hot rod or car craft when they go to shows and have the chassis dyno, owners almost always over guess. It may make 500hp on the dyno, but you loose it in the transfer to the wheels, plus on a dyno you don't have all the accessories on it either.

Factory rating on the truck 350s of this era was 255 gross hp. When they changed the ratings to net hp in '72, the same motor was rated 175 net hp. I think what most people use for bragging purposes, and the ratings that Edelbrock etc. use in their advertising are a lot closer to gross than net. Many smog era 350s with 4bbl were rated at 165 net hp.
