Thumbs up Went to track last friday

Turned out to be a good test day overall. Truck went 11.45@118 on its first day with my homemade twin turbo blowthrough carb setup at 8 psi. This is actually very good considering that its sucking in underhood air which is too hot to begin with and then not even having an intercooler. I'll get the piping built to go through the radiator support and a roll bar so I'm legal again before I go back. 60ft was only 1.69 which is kinda lazy so hopefully its got a few tenths left in it. Here's a couple pics of the new setup.

That is pretty sweet, good times too!

Do you have any more pics of your truck? What else have you done to your drivetrain (rear, trans, etc) to allow it to handle that kind of power?

There isn't anything too fancy on this thing. I run a turbo 350 with good clutches and hardened sprag race. The rear is a 9 inch from a pickup narrowed to fit with moser axles and a spool. Modified caltracs bars help plant the tires. I even use the trusty old two peice driveshaft. Here's a pic from Brainerd last year on top. This was a 12.29 run. Bottom is from friday's 11.51 run.

Re: Went to track last friday

I see you went with the dual turbo. I was gonna go with a single, and have a crossover pipe in front, like over at www.toohighpsi.com. But I jsut want a bit more response at highway speeds.

I figure I'll just fab up what I need. Just need to select the turbo, wastegate assembly, plumb oil lines... Aahh, jeez. Well, Winter'll be here in 6 months...

I've been wanting to go turbo for a long time. My '77 will like it.

Re: Went to track last friday

That is sweet, very good times from a stock appearing truck. I hope to dip into the 12's with my truck once it is finished...and that's with a mostly stock 454. What you are doing with a small block in a heavier truck (mine is a swb) is simply sweet! It would be cool to meet up with you someday, I am out of the twin cities area.

By the way, I thought BIR was called Cornels (sp?) or whatever, I thought the title BIR went away?

Re: Went to track last friday

The hydroboost lines are just Aeroquip TFE lines, they came with the booster kit from hydratech. Also anyone around up here should come to the Show and Go for a day or something on the july 4th weekend as there is usually a bunch of our trucks there and its a lot of fun. I am trying my best to be one of the faster ones but its quite a battle.

The Show and Go is a fun event, especially if you camp out for the weekend at the track!! I did it one year a few years back, had a blast.

Re: Went to track last friday

The best part of CSU is the service that they provide. Anytime you have a problem call them and they will take time to help out. You won't get that from a big outfit.

Re: Went to track last friday

I agree... I emailed the owner reguarding my single turbo truck setup and my dad's twin turbo big block setup and the next day he called me out of the blue. you WILL NEVER recieve that kind of service from a large chain. He wasted 30 minutes of his day on the phone with me and I never even hinted that I was going with his carbs.
