Mine has a plate spliced on top of the break and is riveted on with two or more rivets on each side of the break.. Might hold for a while. I've got new ones also..just have't gotten around to putting them in.

One of the first things I did when I got my truck was rebuild all of the heater controls (non-AC, but I guess the principle's the same) Got a rebuild kit from Chevy Duty and replaced all the arms and cables. They're just held together with push on clips, took about an hour from start to finish and was real easy to do. Instructions were pretty good too. The new arms were steel rather than that cheap cast pot metal so should last forever. Gotta have heat and defrost where I live!

Thanks to everyone on the info
However on the AC control to remove the broken arm you must grind 2-rivits off of a small plate on the back. The question I have is How do you put the plate back on; the rivit is made into the complete AC control unit.....I only ground off the top of the rivits or you may what to call them studs help help help thanks again Ira |
