how do i get it not so warm

well,when it was cold,i was gripin cause it wasn't warm enough,now that its warm,im gripin cause its too warm,i dont want to change mt thermostat cause it runs great at 190-200 degrees,but im not sure on how to keep it from getting so warm in the cab,i tried disconnecting the blower motor,but that didnt help much,any you guys have any bright ideas that isnt going to overheat my truck,im running 2 12" electric cooling fans,with a 4-core,are shut off valves on the heater lines ok,if so,do i need 1 or 2,and if i only need 1,does it matter which line i put it on,and what are the best ones to get.all help is very much appreciated...mike

a shut off valve is indeed ok on the heater lines. the only thing is if it gets cold you have to pop the hood to get any heat.

i just looped my heater lines one from out to in on motor and one out and in on heater

I must be missing something here. My heater controls (in the cold position) block the coolant from flowing through the heater core. Also, does your cab have a fresh-air vent in the driver's kick panel? That helps too...

I did the loop thing on mine too. My controls are all jacked up right now, and I wanted NO hot water running thru the core. Worked great. But if everything is there, I think there is a factory valve to do this.

There is a factory valve that shuts off the water to the heater core, but it is for the A/C trucks only and needs the A/C controls to work it, because they are vacuum actuated. A manual valve is a good idea for a quick fix so all you have to do is open it up when you get too cold. However for the perminent fix you will need a heater seal kit, and that means completely dissasembling your heater system to install it. After all it isn't the hot water inside the heater core that is the problem, it is the old original seals that no longer seal the ducts off. In some cases the doors and flaps are not functioning. If everything is working as it should, air from the heater core will not even enter the cab. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

1 more vote for looping the hoses together in the engine compartment. Only sure way to keep warm coolant out of the heater core.

This should help when used in small qunaties The valves would probablly be a better Idea since you wont get frostbite in July.

I'm installing a remote controlled shut off valve on mine. Put a choke cable in the glove box which controlls the valve in the eng compartment.
