Torq Thrust, Cragar SS, or EA

Im trying to decide b/w these 3 wheels. Ive got a 4.5/5 drop and I want 17" wheels. At first I was dead set on TT, but I saw a truck that looked great with Cragars. So I dunno. My truck has no trim, emblems, etc. I wanna nice clean look.

American Racing Torq Thrust
Cragar SS
Eagle Alloys 211 (TT knockoff basically)

Re: Torq Thrust, Cragar SS, or EA

really, I would get something more unique.

This is coming from someone with a truck with a 2.5/4 drop and you guessed it, 17" TTII.

It's not that they're bad looking wheels, its just that EVERYONE and their dog has them. When I was looking for wheels I was looking for something else, but happened upon a good deal on ebay and couldn't pass them up.

Additionally, when ordering wheels, I suggest ordering different back spacing for the rear wheels so they are closer to the fenders. I overlooked this detail, and the rear wheels sit further inside the wheel well than the front. I've got 17x8 w/ 4" backspacing. 3" backspacing on the rear would look better IMHO.

Good luck!

Re: Torq Thrust, Cragar SS, or EA

BTW,as others mentioned, those are Torque Thrust IIs you`re showing. They are the more "showy" of the TTs.Torque Thrusts are the ones that are polished or polish/cast center. Then there`s Torque Thrust Ds,wider flatter spokes in different finishes. All great wheels for our muscle car era trucks. The CragerSS is an alloy center/steel rim.I think that`s where their problems arrise. They look great, but are best for garage queens or bone-dry driving and high keep-up.My biggest problem with Cragers is I don`t think they should cost so much.

Re: Torq Thrust, Cragar SS, or EA

I have Torq Thrust on my CST now. I originally bought a set of Cragars. I have always loved the look of the Cragars. Bad news was that the set...yes 5 of them..one for a spare...were manufactured wrong! They were impossible to balance. I will not give up a smooth ride simply for looks.

Anyhow, Discount tire took the wheels back and fought with Cragar. They didn't make me do it. Bought the TT's and am happy now.

Cragar was bought by Unique wheel some time ago and I think their quality is poor. JMHO.

To me you can't beat the looks of Cragars, but like cdowns said, their quality has always been poor. I agree that the American wheels are the way to go.

Why not the aluminum Cragar SS wheels? If I'm not mistaken, they are only slightly more $ than the TT II's.

I also vote TTII's (i have them) They make anything look great, that's why you see so many of them... They are also a classic design, I feel they will never go out of style.

I agree with the rest of these guys, with Cragar's you get use to polishing out the rust. I bought them for my step-sons Mustang and they require lots of maintenance.

Re: Torq Thrust, Cragar SS, or EA

Alright, then no Cragars and no knockoffs. Next question is whats the best place to buy them from. If I do go with TTIIs, then I think Ill get them from Summit..

Re: Torq Thrust, Cragar SS, or EA

My vote is for TTII's. I was also considering the Cragar SS, but there is just something that doesn't look right about them in a 17" wheel. 15's look bad-ass, but something just seems off in their 17.

I voted for the American Racing Wheels, if you decide to go that route give Putter a pm regarding these wheels.

http://www.newstalgiawheel.com

I bought 15 inch Torque Thrusts from here and bf goodrich TAs from Summit.
I spent like right around 1000. Newstalgia had a better deal when I bought mine.
