cleaning my garage floor?

After stripping quite a few trucks, my cement floor is really nasty. I slid about 15 feet today and landed on top of an engine laying on the floor. The kick down cable bracket tattoo'ed my chest and the dist branded my belly.. At least it stopped me from using my hands!
Money is tight, what can I use to clean it? Stains don't bother me but it would be nice to have a clean floor.
I stopped using Kitty litter to get the spills up because the dust was getting into every thing.
I need something that won't kill me or my dogs, the floor has drains but into a drain field outside.

TIDE--coat floor with powder-leave it to soak up the spills overnight-wet floor-use push broom to scurb-flush with hose-drain field not harmed.

LOL, I knew there was an old school trick! and it definity is cheap enough. I had price shock when i went by NAPA to get some floor cleaner.

Do you take McDonald or Hardee coupons?

You might try mixing a little Dawn dish soap in there also. It will help with the grease (add water obviously). I think I got a gallon of concentrated concrete cleaner at Home Depot for about $5. It works pretty good.

Oh, Transmission fluid works good too. You have to spread it around though and work it through the greasy spots. and then let it sit for a couple of hours.Then use a squeegy to shove it out of the garage.

I have a bottle of "Dave's Insanity" hot sauce that says on the label that it's suitable for cleaning driveways. I know it's not intended for human consumption, but it will clean your pipes real well. Unfortunately it costs about $6 for a 3oz bottle.

I must be typing too much stuff because I am getting timed out of the site.I know what

you are saying,I am only suggesting something that was cheap to use not whether or not it

is the best or worst. almost every mechanic I know of has some extra tranny fluid left

over from a previous job. You can rub it in and pick it up with a dust pan and scoop it

back into the bucket. It thins out the grease enough to get it off the floor. It's like

you can start the floor on fire with gas and get the grease off that way but who in thier

right mind is going to do that. Gas also works to get the grease off the floor if you know

that a spark from somewhere won't start it on fire.There was another post here that was

talking about how some mechanics will pour tranny fluid down there carburator to clean the

carbon out and lube the valve seals in the process. well the main word here is clean.

haven't you ever taken tranny fluid to your hands to get the grease off? In the winter,

with the garage doors opening alot I would use it all the time because it doesn't dry out

your hands like dawn or goop will sometimes do.

I have used trns fuild in my parts washer to not have the fuild be too harsh on my hands.
I used the tide stuff and it got what i wanted clean, still have stains but the previous owner had a body shop and booth in my shop, so the colors all blend into a nice rain box, i din't want the clay dust and slipping and sliding.
Back in the day I used varsol but with this shop, my dogs and myself don't deal well with any chemicals

How do you mix tranny fluid for a parts washer? It's not a straight 100% is it?
