FAQ / Article contest request

Looking for someone who has done, is doing, or is about to redo a wood bed floor to write an article w/pictures for the FAQ page. As a bonus you can enter it into the Articles contest. Stepside or fleetside doesn't matter. In fact one of each would be good.

We also need an article for making 72 door panels work on earlier doors with pics of modifying the lower holes for the 72 plastic studs.

I know it's been discussed a million times, but a FAQ on putting 73-87 crossmembers under a 67-72 is also needed.

Check FAQ there's a thread on the gas tank relocation.

Krue, I have never written an article before. I put power disc brakes with ECE 2.5" drop spindles on my truck and I put power steering. I also built a totally reproduction 69 stepbed with parts from Ed at MotherTruckers. The problem is I did not take a bunch of pictures as I did it though. I can write on any of these, but I do not claim to be an expert. I was basically learning as I went with a lot of help from the board.

writing an article is just like writing a post. Just say it from your prospective and in terms you feel comfy with, there is no right and wrong in trying to help others.

Re: FAQ / Article contest request

How about the definitive article on insuring these beasts? After my recent accident, I've become quite knowlegible on the topic.

Not to be a wise acre, but I think that's what I did when I made the FAQ index.
I tried to categorize everything.

Re: FAQ / Article contest request

I'm about to do a 73-87 front crossmember swap into an earlier truck. I'm pulling the donor truck apart this week.

I'll cover the details of swapping the disc brake prop valve, master cylinder and lines too.

I'll take good pictures and write up a detailed article on it. Be patient, I'd imagine it will take me a couple of weeks to get it done.

Re: FAQ / Article contest request

I'm pressure washing everything tomorrow to get ready for the job. I should be able to do the swap this weekend. I'll try to have the article written on Monday when I come back to work and can use the internet again.

Re: FAQ / Article contest request

Fellows, I dropped the ball.

When I got off work Wednesday morning, I went to Amarillo with a Tx Forest Service strike team to fight the wildland fires. I didn't get back till yesterday.

Good news is that Texas isn't going to burn down anymore. Bad news is that I can't do the job till tomorrow and Wednesday.

Sorry for the delay.

Hi Tex Firefigher, was wonding if you had a chance or if you had any plans to do or document this project?

I can't seem to find it on a search or in you're list of posts. I think it would be a huge conribution that would be appreciated by many members. That's if you don't mind of course. Thanks TX.

Re: FAQ / Article contest request

I did the power steering swap a year or so ago. I did not take pics and probably did not do it correctly, but I could do the post as how it happened (with new "pointer" pics maybe) and then let the real straight edgers submit through the thread and hopefully right what I might have wronged. If that sounds acceptable, pm me with the location for where the post should be entered. -Scot

Re: FAQ / Article contest request

PM josh if you wanna enter it in the contest (which is still going on I think). If you just wanna do a write up you can post it here and let everybody chime in, or post it in FAQ submissions. (If you post it here pm me so I can move it to FAQ when it's done.)
