has anyone tryed a shackle flip

I was wondering if anyone has attempted the ol rear shackle flip.

Also i wonder if i took my 44" arched leaf springs from the front and made them fit in the rear, what issues would i have? Why do we have 52" springs back there anyway.
Just curious.

Re: has anyone tryed a shackle flip

Jim-

I have a shackle flip on the rear of my Blazer - works excellent - I kept the stock rear springs and put the shackle flip with blocks for 8" of lift.

Putting that short of springs in the rear - I believe you are going to lose some articulation - and it will likely be a stiffer ride - you would have to fabricate front mounts or move your existing so that your rear axle would be centered still...

now i really need to see your rig. For now do you have any pics of the flip? was it a kit? I found a kit online, but when i read the articles about it. they read that they were a nightmare to install.

Fixed that link - the shackle pics are in the first Blazer album...
