Electrical gremlins
I've got a 67 C20 with a weird lighting problem.
1) No taillights, running or stop but turn signals work. 2) One pull on headlight switch activates parking lamp on passenger side and left turn signal indicator but no action on outside lenses. 3) Two pulls on headlight switch turns on headlights but turns off parking lamps. 4) No cluster illumination. 5) No overhead light when headlight switch is rolled to the left. I was encountering these problems and replaced the switch from AutoZone today. Still same problems. The dome/tail light fuse is good as I can see it intact. Is this going to be one of those days? |

Re: Electrical gremlins
Welcome to the board from Columbus ohio.
It sounds like you have multiple problems. i would start with 3 things, and they should get most, if not all your problems fixed. Replace all your bulbs. Even if they look new, replace them. It's only a few bucks for 4 1157 bulbs... or 2057's will make your brake lights/turn signals brighter. make a good ground for the bed to frame...esp important if you have a wooden (or missing) bed floor. Check for a trailer harness under the bed, and if there is one, check for green corrosion at the connections. You could remove and repair everything under there and install a plug in style harness that you can get at NAPA for 10 bucks or so. (I can look up the P/N later if you need it) You probably have a turn signal switch problem, or a brake light switch problem. Either one of them would cause the no brake lights, and in all reality, i would say the signal switch is more likely to be at fault. one last thing, you may or may not know, a 67 is supposed to turn off the front parking lights when the headlights come on. |

I don't have a manual yet. Can anyone direct me to an online diagram of the fuse box, it's fuse sizes and a wiring diagram?

Re: Electrical gremlins
I'm guessing '68 is the same way? What would be the best way should I want to change the parking lights to stay on?

Re: Electrical gremlins
68 is not the same, onless you got a REAL early 68 with left over 67 parts. (not likely) |

welcome to you both from south TX.
Hope you get those gremlins stomped out. I hate vehicle wiring! |

Re: Electrical gremlins
How do I get to my turn signal switch? Do I remove the steering wheel?
What is the spot lamp? Here is a picture of my sorry fuse panel. Forgive me, I just got it. Anyways, I pulled the instrument cluster to fix the speedometer. Is it possible that I pulled out an electrical connector that plugs into the PNL LGTS on the lower right? Would that feed the instrument lighting? I need to get a manual. BAD.
