They went to a cable instead of the rod. Personally, I like the rod type. Cables can fray and stick. The rod lives forever! And if your gas pedal ever sticks like a broken accelerator spring or ???, you can pull up on the pedal if it has the rod linkage. Try that on the cable type. :p

I like the looks of the 71-72 gas pedals so this is what I did upon
realizing that making a square hole for the cable was needed plus moving the holes. Also, the 71-72 cab is made slightly different to accommodate the pedal, (there is a wider flat formed at the location). I cut the 69 pedal and welded a cut off 71 pedal to the 69 at the right location. Now I have the 71 look and the 69 mechanical rod. This seemed to be the easy to go! The pivots in the floor always seem to rust out and cause problems and what I did works well. Jim |

RUST???? OH THATS THAT BROWN STUFF. THAT METAL OXIDATION STUFF THAT SOME OF THE GUYS BACK EAST ARE ALWAYS FIGHTING OFF....... WE DON'T HAVE THAT PROBLEM OUT HERE IN THE DESERT OR WEST COAST.

John,
Have you forgotten already? I can always send you a rusty piece of a truck if you miss that part of living in Michigan. Jim |
