Re: tranny transfer case and rear ID

What year is the truck? It sounds like a 205 to me. There "should" be an ID tag on the backside of the case.

Re: tranny transfer case and rear ID

the full time case is most likely a 203. The pattern from the top is hi Loc, hi, N, low, low loc for a 203. I am not sure what visual clues to look for; I usually look at the shift pattern to try to get close. The 203 case is cast iron, chain drive. The 205 is cast iron, gear drive. The 208 and 241 cases are aluminum, chain drive. I think the input will be different depending on auto or stick applications.

Assuming you are not a Mac user, you can use Microsoft Paint. Even better than that is Irfanview, an excellent free image utility available at www.irfanview.com.

Re: tranny transfer case and rear ID

use http://www.photobucket.com .

a 4x4 dually will have a dana 60 front and either corp 14 bolt or dana 70 rear.

if 2WD is plit i/Lo, it's a 203 i think. If it's only 2WD hi, it's a 205.

as far as transmission, what does the pan look like? (again, picture....)
