Summit or Jegs Dizzy's for 350
Hey I havent been here in ages. I just got the truck on the road and have a question.
Has anyone bought one of the "blueprinted" dizzys from Jegs or Summit. I need one I think for my 76 GMC K15. They are like 90 bucks. What do you guys think about them, any better options. Its not Hi performance so I dont need anything crazy. Let me know guys. Thanks again for all your help

Re: Summit or Jegs Dizzy's for 350
I considered both of them for my new engine, but decided against them. I ended up getting the cheap Mallory HEI from Summit since it was a brand name and it said it was made in the USA. I asked a similar question here, and really didn't find anyone who had been running either of them long enough to know how they hold up.
Right after I bought mine, MSD came out with one for about $150. I don't recall seeing it shortly after it was released, so I don't know if it is still available. I will probably get one of those store branded ones you are asking about for my '37 Chevy, though, since it doesn't see that many miles. I'm interested to hear people's opinions of them. Slonaker |

Re: Summit or Jegs Dizzy's for 350
If they're anything like Pro-Forms then I'd stay away. I had one and it went out on me in a couple months time. I've been really happy with the one that came with my ZZ4. It's the GM HEI one that has been reputable for some time. You can add a new module to make it somewhat better but I've tweaked mine to where it has a adance limit etc. and really surpised me on how it became better.

Re: Summit or Jegs Dizzy's for 350
Get a Mallory Unilite they dont need a sparkbox just a matching coil. Setup is real easy and they work great. My bro has one in his Olds that spins to 6500rpm without issue and the other was in my old work truck that fully loaded had 14,000 pounds on it never hiccuped once.

Re: Summit or Jegs Dizzy's for 350 LONG WINDED
Thanks for all the replies they are very helpfull. Since we are on the subject the reason I think I need a new one is my timing was set at 10 and slowly creeps its way up to 17 BTDC. The mechanic that did my smog is really good doesnt try to get you to buy anuthing you dont need. He said it looked like the dizzy. Do u guys have any ideas. It starts perfect runs great doesnt pop but has no top end power, which is due to the way advanced timing. He said my vaccuum advance may not be working. He said chasnge it out. He didnt try to push me to have him do it. Even gave me the Napa part # for the replacement.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated

Have you checked to see if the Harmonic balancer has slipped?
