Can you fabricate the ac vents in a non air cab? What do you guys do in this situation? Or would it be best just to have the ac vents come out under the dash? Is that an option?

A sawsall and your there. You can easily cut the holes in your existing dash to work. My current dash has been done that way, but I plan to take that dash out and put in an A/C cab dash from a doner truck.

Hold up the vents and trace a circle and then say a small prayer and begin cutting. For the one above the radio I did a lot of measurements from an A/C dash first.

Lots of different ways to go about this.
Yes there are underdash vents.
To use original components you will also have to modify your firewall.
I would check in vintage airs system for trucks without original a/c

When you add it all up you will get a better performing system.

Hutch, what do you have to modify on the firewall. I don't remember having to do anything on my firewall, but I was 17 when we did this and my Dad may have made the fix while I was talking to some girl on the phone.

I was referring to adding factory a/c to a non a/c cab.
There is a extra vent hole for the condensor to let the cold air into the cab, some one stated that you could add these by drawing out the pattern on a a/c cab and the use that as a pattern for the non a/c cab.

If you look at the two cabs(a/c and non a/c) without the heater box installed you will see the difference.

Order on of the new systems for a non a/c truck and let dad install it for you, while you take care of business

Well, I will have to check that out and see if I have the extra hole or if I need to add it. Dad has been gone a few years now so it is up to me.....and besides my wife doesn't let me do that anymore with anyone but her.

When I did mine I used a non AC 70 cab and both holes were there. What belive to be true is all 70 to 72 cabs have both holes and 67 to 69 dont. I wouldnt bet my life on it. Just what I have found.
