smaller OD lug nuts

If any of you have been following my new axle install.....its slowly turning into a nightmare....finally got it under the truck, and slowly working out many of the unexpected issues....get the wheels on......bang....lugs are too small to go on the new axle (I guess 70 was that last year of the 1/2" studs), then they went to 9/16th. I have attached a pic, I am aware that there are lugs that are full caps, and not acorn nuts, but I couldn't find any that matched the taper of an acorn nut and I couldn't find any at the stores that were 9/16ths....any quick solutions. I think enlarging the lug holes on the wheels is an option, and I know new studs might be an option, I guess I am looking for a lug nut solution

Re: smaller OD lug nuts

I am using spline drive lugs that I got from Discount Tire on a couple of vehicles. They come with a unique socket with a smaller O.D. They fit into wheels with smaller holes well. Also adds a little theft deterence since they require the special socket. I have them in 12mm., 7/16, and 1/2" sizes, good chance they have them in 9/16" also. I think I paid around 15-20 bucks a set (for 5 and 6 lug apps.)with the socket.

Re: smaller OD lug nuts

i went to discount tire to you have to ask for a tuner lug nut in what ever size studs you have , the ones on my 71 blazer 4x4 are 7/16 they were pricey i paid more for the ones i have because of the odd ball size , but they did come with a special thin walll lug key , i paid around 50 bucks for the 7/16 tuner lugs
