Oil cooler bypass question.

Am i able to bypass the oil cooler? One of the hoses is cut before the crimp by the cooler (the crimp then is aluminum which goes into the cooler) i heard it was expensive to find that part plus have it crimped. Would i be able to cut the other hose and just put a peice of copper U tube in there with 2 clamps on each end? I dont want it to come off and i'll lose oil everywhere, if the pressure is too high it might come off?

here is a picture

on the left hose is the problem, in the pic there is tape over it to slow the leaking.

Re: Oil cooler bypass question.

If it is like mine you should be able to remove the entire system by unbolting it at the adapter and returning to just the filter ??? After doing a complete rebuild I have noticed both lines are leaking at the crimped on fittings. So will be taking this system off either to replace or totally remove. I think this is a nice to have oil cooler but not required?? Hope this helps .....Capn'
