78 Gas Gauge problem
I have a 78 Chevy Pickup that the gas gage is all ways bouncing around. I read almost all of the articles in the FAQ and did not see this talked about.
I checked the wireing and the ground on the tank and everything seems normal. Has any one else had this problem? The gage does works normal when the switch in on and the engine is off, but when I crank it up the bouncing begains. |

Re: 78 Gas Gauge problem
It bounces about 1/4" in each direction. I have never seen of heard of this before.
If I have 1/2 tank of gas the gage will bounce between 1/2 and 3/4...then between 1/2 and 1/4.. Long bed single tank Last edited by The Hogdoctor; 06-19-2006 at 10:46 PM. |

Re: 78 Gas Gauge problem
I'm thinking a short somewhere in the wiring or a bad float that is giving mixed signals when the engine is starting.
