I'm battling the kinked / leaky valve covers on my new crate 350 install. Been thinking of getting some fancy covers, either alum or some from GMPP. Please correct me if this is a stupid question, but do all valve covers come with the oil filler hole? Some state they have the PCV / breather holes, not much said about oil filler hole.

And if no oil filler hole, how the heck do you put oil in the engine? (I know my Dad's old '62 Impala had an oil filler neck on the intake...but my Edelbrock alum intake does not). Help me understand this?

And suggestions on new covers would be nice also.

in all reality, all you need is the PCV hole, and the breather. You can unplug one of them and dump oil in through that hole.

Longhorn is right. But I will add that the pcv hole and the breather hole need to be on opposite sides of the engine. Meaning you need one hole in each cover. If the cast covers have no holes, the usually have a hole location cast on the inside. With a hole saw and the correct grommet you're good to go. Also, they should come with a baffle to screw in behind the hole, keeps oil from splashing or getting sucked out.

I'm betting it takes a while to pour 5 quarts in the little PCV/breather hole with a baffle behind it...
