Is it worth it?
Looking at buying a '72 C10, new-after market front quarter panels, no rust and runs smooth despite the need for a tune-up. Interior is rough but the seller has 90 percent of the original parts and is asking $xxxx for it. good dealor should I pass. Not sure if I i'm going to invest in a full restore of just use as a beater. Good deal?

I'd say it sounds like a good deal...but I would check certain areas for rust...(as these trucks all have them) or if they have been repaired..check the quality of the work
cab corners (look inside behind the seats) cab floor (front corners and also behind seats) rockers (inside and out) front windshield (outer corners, both top and bottom) cab supports (underside of floor) It might be a good idea (if you haven't already done it)..to slide under the cab and look at the entire floor. The cab is always the top priority with these trucks (IMHO) as it's the only thing you can't easily find in good shape...or can't replace with an aftermarket part or panel. Good luck...

seanu, you can get a rust free cab.Aftermarket cabs are only available in fiberglass.

Yeah, I know you can get a fiberglass cab..but those are really supposed to be only for racing purposes only, they are not (again IMHO) safe enough for everyday street use. As for a rust free cab...maybe they are out there...but I've never seen a cab from one of these 30+ year old trucks that was completly rust free. I was just trying to say that basically everything can be repaired or replaced with an original or aftermarket part...except a complete cab (at least not yet)...so I think that is the critical part to really go over well.

I appologize for the errant post. I simply thought it would be a good idea to utilize the knowledge base of your members to find out if my purchase would be worth my time. I didn't intentionally mean to disrupt your censorship of free ideas and speech so you can make money. I can certainly find other resources to tap into for information. Thanks, but no thanks.

If you think you can maintain a site of this magnitude and scope, not to mention professionalism, by all means, get to building one. If not, please show a little respect for Josh and all the moderators.... and read the rules. Do you really think this site costs absolutely no money to operate???

No, as a matter of fact I don't think running a website costs "no money". My point is that all I wanted was a little insight into purchasing a vehicle which, by the looks of the thousands of postings, you all know a thing or two about. I realize and admit that I should have read the "rules" a little closer. I didn't realize that it would cost me money to ask if buying a truck is prudent at the price being asked. I wasn't trying to sell a truck or parts. I wasn't trying to make a deal. All I want was a "yeah, good deal" or "no, pass on that man". I understand that setting limits is needed, but come on, did the guy even read the posting, or did he just see the "$" and automatically fire off a warning. I like this website, chances are that once I purchase this truck, I would love to trade stories, picture and ideas, as well as subscribe in order to find parts and add-ons. My first impression is a little tarnished due to the attitude and lame rule.
