Her New Truck-the plan and Q's

My wife recently brought home a '70 C10 long bed fleetside. I don't know a whole lot about them, but I have been told this one is odd. It had factory air at one time, has a sliding rear window, a wood bed floor, a 350(not original),TH400,12 bolt posi and leaf springs in the rear. The Rivets in the hangars are factory so it came this way. Original color was orange with white top.
Does any of this sound out of place?

A/C parts, brakes/spindles, and trans are from '84 Bonneville parts car.

Nothing sounds out of place with it. There has been questions raised about whether or not the rear sliding windows were factory or not. The plan looks good! But now, we need pictures!

the leafs are semi-uncommon on the chevys...but nothing I would call unusual.

Welcome to the board from West Tennessee. Good luck with your wife's project truck. I'm a little lost on the donor car parts for your truck so take a lot of pictures so us old guys can learn something.

Sounds good to me , my '70 c10 had leafs as well . The only thing i might change , and i can't believe i'm saying this i'm pretty old school , i'd consider running 17 in wheels , torq thrust or possibly cragar ss . The 17's just look right on these old trucks , imho.

Hey,welcome from down state Maryland.Those are all regular options.It may be rare to find the same combination.A truck could end up pretty unigue with all the choices according to an individual`s priorities.On Chevys,the coils were standard and the opposite for GMC.I wonder if you have a Dana 44 or 12-bolt rear.I know on a 3/4t Chevy I had w/leafs,it had a Dana60.Sounds like a nice`70 from this part of the country.

Sounds like a nice project! I think I would ditch the Bonneville components idea. 71-72 disc parts are a direct bolt on and 73-87 go right on with little work. It seems a tried and true combination used by a large part of the board. Spend a little time with the search function and see what turns up. Good luck!

Well, I'll put up some pics as soon as I can get them resized....

We are using the Bonnie and Blazer parts just because we already have them, and supposedly the brake parts and bonnie drop spindles are a diect bolt on. We'll see, I'll try the stock ones before I order the new ones. The Blazer has very little body left and might get used under a shortbed project later on.

This truck came from Maryland, and as soon as I get this legal there's a '69 parts truck in Lavale I'll be towing home. Western MD seems like a hot spot for these things- I see dozens of them going across US50.

Might check a little further but I was told that the '87 and up on the 700 was preferred. Because this was the third generation of this transmission with all the improvements made that were problems with the earlier models.
