Kickdown cable installation ???

I bought the Lokar kickdown cable kit for my TH350. I pulled out the plug on the transmission where the cable is supposed to attach to a small rod.?.. and there is nothing there. There wasn’t a kickdown cable on it before, the piece that stuck out of the hole that the cable is supposed to be in was filled with rubber, almost like a plug. Can I take off the oil pan and find this little rod that I attach the cable to?

Re: Kickdown cable installation ???

I believe you'll find the cable end is not straight and fits into a level inside the tranny. If you take the pan off you should see the lever I am referring to. You feed the cable throught the hole in the tranny case, hook it to the lever and then bolt the cable housing to the tranny case. There should be a gasket/o'ring on the cable mounting fixture. Hope that helps....bossrod

Re: Kickdown cable installation ???

Whomever filled the old kickdown with silicone More than likely ditched the little rod that goes to the kickdown lever inside the trans.
You may have to pull the pan and put that piece in The Rod will go from the valve body to the hole where the cable goes on .

I may have one you can have for free if you need it

I pulled the pan off and I see what the rod should be connected to, a little lever with a spring on it right? I must be missing the rod. Id be interested in that rod if you have it.
