1 ton frame

Hey all,
I'm sort of a newbie to this board. Just wanted to know how much beefier the frame of a one ton is compared to a 3/4?

Thanks a lot,
Matt

Re: 1 ton frame

Welcome to the board from South Mississippi! I know 3/4 ton is beefed up with more braces than a 1/2 ton, but that's about all I know.

Re: 1 ton frame

The one ton is taller than the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton frames, and I think the metal is thiocker, but I can't find that info at the moment.
But it is in fact taller. There are spacers under the tranny cross member on one tons with automatic trannys to make up the difference.

Re: 1 ton frame

Seems from the pictures I've seen that the one tons are a little taller. I'm thinking of grabbing a project 1970 C-30 on auction right now. The goal would be to attach a dana 60 upfront and eventually hook up a transfer case.

My guess is that there are a few people who have done this sucessfully in their own garages without a lift.
