79 K10 brake question
Hi everyone. My husband is currently trying to replace the front rotors on our 79 K10 Bonanza. We can't seem to get the hub and rotor apart and off the truck. He apparently also broke one of the lugs, so now we really need to get it apart to fix that too. We can get the lock out off and get down to getting the snap ring off, and I don't know if he's gotten down to the spring or not. Can anybody give us an idea of what we're doing wrong or not doing at all that would help us get the thing apart? Thanks!

Re: 79 K10 brake question
Do you have the special tool to remove the lock nut off?

This is what the socket looks like that Captkaos is talking about...

Re: 79 K10 brake question
You may be able to rent it for only a deposit at the local part stores.

Re: 79 K10 brake question
Thanks everyone. We're getting that socket today, so he'll be working on it over the weekend. Are there any other surprises we might run in to or should it be pretty straight-forward from here?

Re: 79 K10 brake question
What is "the special tool" actually called? What we got was a ball joint spanner wrench from Napa, and it's too small to fit over the axle.

Re: 79 K10 brake question
Well thanks everyone! He was able to get those locknuts off without the special socket and the brakes are all back together all good as new. Thanks for all your help!
