Here's a rotating assembly kit, or choices of them, at very good prices. Anyone ever used any of these parts. They are cheap for what they claim. Skepticism is hereditary in my family. I might consider getting one of the kits w/6"rods, forged pistons and all. Just not sure of the quality yet. Any info/feedback?

the thing about non brand name stuff is you don't know how bad it is till it comes out the side of the block// 489+150balance+upgrade on crank+upgrade on rods +++ so what do you save in the long run compared to a name brand reliable made in the USA who has stood the test of time//U GET WHAT U PAY4 //

What I did was contact the local Chevy speed shop, builds mostly chevy engines, and tell him I wanted a 383, but on a budget. I got what they show and of a reccomended brand that will hold up for only a few bucks more. The 383 is pretty popular and a lot of good parts out there. I would only go with the " known" and not the unknown!

I agree with cdowns. Buy your kit from a source that will honor warranties and back their products. If you want a stroker buy good parts. You shouldn't need a forged crank or pistons if you don't plan on winding it too tight. These are nice kits, but not really "budget".

You can get scat or eagle cranks for Cheap.

I know exactly what y'all are talking about. That is why I asked here. Some of the parts ARE identifiable by name (i.e. Keith Black Pistons), But some of them, I've never heard of. But just cause I never heard of them doesn't mean anything. I agree about the quality parts thing. Buy the best and blame yourself if something lets go, buy the worst and blame everyone else. I know these aren't Killer deals or anything. But one could save a few hundred dolllars overall. That is why I asked if anyone has had any experience with THESE parts?
I'm not looking to build the cheapest 383 I can. I'm wanting forged pitsons so I can squeeze it (100-200HP), and 6" rods to reduce friction, while running a moderate comp. ratio and cam, w/good flowing Heads.

That is a decent deal actually, vs. buying all the stuff seperately. About in line with Jegs price on the Eagle kits.

The stuff in that ebay auction is pretty decent. Hawks is an up and coming brand. The vendor (Raceparts)has been good to me on other things. I have't bought internals from them before, but other "off-brand" items I have bought from them have been high quality. I wouldn't bee too afraid of the stuff in that auction. Of course, I would have my own guy balance the assembly. He would let me know if there's a problem with the parts.

I personally would shop around for a used assembly with good name-brand parts if I was on a tight budget. My 427 rotating assembly was not used, but the owner had bought it and then decided to go another way. Thus I scored Cola 4340 crank, eagle h-beams, and JE Pistons with bearings and rings for $1600 (saving $600-$800). Bargains are out there if you're patient.
