disc brake swap
can I bolt 70-72 spindles, calipers, rotors onto my 67 1/2 ton to convert? what about 73 and up disc brake parts. Anyone that has done it without buying the $800 kit that can give me some info would be great. thanks

Re: disc brake swap
I bolted 72 spindles to my 70, I had to use the 72 balljoints, and I just used the entire steering setup off the 72, but I understand they make an adaptor so you just have to use the 72 outer tie rod ends. I also had to do some funky adapting on the brake lines, which I plan to fix using some prebent lines from a vendor.

Re: disc brake swap
ive seen people use the same lines off the drum brake just screw them into the caliper
You can put the whole front crossmember out of a 73+ Just have to drill a few holes some line up but not all six. Im not sure of using just the spindles with your exsisting a arms. Last edited by 1972C10; 07-05-2006 at 05:35 AM. |

Re: disc brake swap
My adapting was more at the master cylinder.

Re: disc brake swap
I recently did the swap. You will need 71-72 ball joints(easy) but you will need to adapt/rig a crossover tie rod end. 71-72 spindles take a different tie rod end/size. I welded the adjuster parts of 67 and 72 together
