Cleaning aluminum
I just bought a used fast burn 385 GM crate motor, the heads are pretty dirty however i dont want to take the entire engine apart just to bead blast them or something, any ideas on cleaning them, Carb cleaner or something. Thanks

Small stiff bristle brush with some Laquer thinner or some other strong solvent and patience.

Use Gibbs Lubricant, go to Roadsters.com and find an article on it there

Aluma-Brite aluminum cleaner. Find it at your local HVAC supply house.

pressure wash with soap and water i like makeing a strong solution of spic-n-span and water to run thru my pressure washer

Try aluminum wheel cleaner from Eagle One cleaners. There is one in particular that has a picture on the front of the bottle of an old style "hurricane wheel". That should clean all of your aluminum right up.

ZEP makes a product called aluma-brite this is what is used to clean trailers, alum wheels,...if you can get ahold of some of this stuff your problem is solved.

go to ur local detail shop and ask to buy some acid based wheel cleaner, it will clean damn near ne thing, just make sure ur in a well venelated area
